Title of activity: Establishment of the information system for the continuous presentation of the ecological and oceanographic condition of the Gulf of Trieste. Implementation period: SLO: t0 + 30 months Location: NIB - MBS Activity: - Activity 1.1 :
Setup and configuration of the Linux server for the information system: connection and configuration of the network, protection configuration (firewall, RAID) (NIB-MBS: t0 + 3 months).
- Activity 1.2
Preparation of automated procedures for exchange and entry of data (NIB-MBS: t4 + 3 months). We will exchange with the Italian partner the existing and newly acquired results of our shared project.
- Activity 1.3
Setup of an interactive website presenting environmental data, which will be accessible to system users (NIB-MBS: t0 + 6 months).
- Activity 1.4
Integration of relational databases about the marine environment in GIS (NIB-MBS: t0 + 30 months).
Required experts:
2 researchers, 2 computer engineers, 3 computer technicians Partners participating in this phase and their roles: NIB-MBS Setup of a Linux web server, establishment of a website, portal, automated data exchange system, relational databases for data and underwater images/recordings; development of the website due to new information (satellite images, cruises, data from oceanographic buoys, underwater images/recordings).
Expected results: - Safe information system setup on servers on both sides of the border, regularly updated by new data.
- Preparation of a relational database of joint oceanographic and meteorological data and video footage accessible on-line; unification of typology and the method for obtaining data.
- Defining quality control with regards to obtained data according to international standards.
- Meta-base with a detailed description of all incoming data.
- Agreed system for refreshing website contents by automated link and updating.
- Websites where new contents will be presented, with the aforementioned system controlling the links between them.
- Exchange of information about common standards for cross-border research institutes.
- An observation point for the environmental features of the sea in the Gulf of Trieste, offering data in real time and availability to cross-border users (public administrations, sea users, tourism, schools).
